What You Need to Know
There are natural solutions for chronic pain that are recommended by the medical field and may work for you. St. John’s Wort, valerian, turmeric, ginseng, and kava kava have all been used to provide pain management and relief for those who suffer from chronic pain. While some have found relief through these options, you may not. If you would like more information about these options, then please contact Wellspring Health today.
Movement Is Life
Sometimes, the very last thing that you feel like doing when you’re struggling with chronic pain is to get up and get moving. If at all possible, however, you should try to engage in some type of physical activity as long as your doctor approves, since it has been shown to help alleviate pain. If the most you can do is take a short walk, then schedule one into your day as it is likely to help you feel much better than continuing to be sedentary.
While there are some cases of chronic pain that require surgery, many more cases do not. If your doctor has determined that you do not need surgery, then there are some non-surgical options which we can pursue with you. Examples of non-surgical treatment include: physical therapy, mindfulness and meditation, diet changes, and lifestyle modifications. Wondering if one of these options might work for you? Contact Wellspring Health for more information.
At Wellspring Health, we are happy to provide a variety of treatment options in Orange City and Daytona for those who struggle with chronic pain. Contact our office today to schedule your appointment and get on the road to a pain-free life.
Chronic Pain Management Treatment
Chronic pain can result from a variety of injuries or conditions. Many individuals seek non-surgical and non-narcotic pain management treatment. Treatment is determined by the history and severity of the pain. The core concept behind most interventional pain management care is identifying the origin of the pain and then attempting to correct the abnormality not just mask the symptoms. The diversity of painful conditions requires diverse, and multi-faceted treatment approaches.
The National Institutes of Health Pain Management Fact Sheet(2010) states that “Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined” and “Pain is cited as the most common reason Americans access the health care system. It is a leading cause of disability and it is a major contributor to health care costs.” According to the National Center for Health Statistics (2006), approximately 76.2 million, one in every four Americans, have suffered from pain that lasts longer than 24 hours and millions more suffer from acute pain.
Non-Surgical Pain Management
Wellspring Health, “The Complete Wellness Center of Orange City” and the Coastal Spine and Injury Center in Daytona, offers non-surgical pain management through chiropractic care. Rather than invasive surgery, Wellspring Health offers pain relief by combining medical, chiropractic, overall wellness practices and other comprehensive treatments to reduce chronic pain.
A recent analysis of the literature on surgery and invasive procedure effectiveness states “Particularly in the field of pain-related conditions, more evidence from randomized placebo-controlled trials is needed to avoid continuation of ineffective treatments.” and “Our results have implications for clinical research and practice by arguing against the continued use of ineffective invasive treatments, especially in the field of chronic pain.”
Jonas WB, Crawford C, Colloca L, et al To what extent are surgery and invasive procedures effective beyond a placebo response? A systematic review with meta-analysis of randomized, sham-controlled trials BMJ Open 2015;5:e009655. doi: 10.1136/bmjopen-2015-009655
Non-Narcotic Pain Management
Individuals suffering from discomfort or chronic pain can have difficulties with everyday tasks; don’t turn to narcotic pain management. Let our team of doctors diagnose your symptoms and develop a specialized treatment plan to help relieve your pain without any pharmaceutical or surgical intervention. Deaths from prescription opioids—drugs like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone—have more than quadrupled since 1999,1 yet there has not been an overall change in the amount of pain that Americans report.2,3
